60 guests from Vitre including 10 children travelled by coach to Lymington
The first day of their visit was an outing to the Historic Dockyard at Portsmouth. The six attractions, including three old ships - Warrior, Victory and Mary Rose, offered something of interest for everyone and indeed one day was not nearly enough to explore the many ancient ships and museums. With a trip around the harbour thrown in it was a happy group heading home.
Saturday dawned bright and sunny which allowed our guests to enjoy a day out with their hosts and gave the organisers of the Barn Dance time to pick up strawberries, gather cow parsley and prepare Boldre War Memorial Hall, which is becoming a regular venue for the Twinners.
It was all a bit of a squeeze to fit everyone in for the meal and our hosts and guests were very good natured when we had to lose a few tables for the dancing. The Band “Pass the Buck” were great and the caller Ginette did her best to cope with the language problem. A lot of the moves got lost in translation, which amused the onlookers enormously. The children had great fun outside using the facilities provided by the hall.
